Day Shift starring Jaime Foxx film analysis

Jamie Foxx stars as Dave Franco and Jamie Foxx is the star of "Day Shift", a new movie about vampire hunting. The story follows a blue collar father who wants to provide a comfortable life for his daughter. However, his job as a pool cleaner in San Fernando Valley is just a façade for his true source of income: hunting and killing vampires for the International Union of Vampire Hunters.

The premise sounds fun, but can director J.J. Perry deliver?

Jamie Foxx's opening scene in Day Shift is an action sequence that sees him shotgun blasting an old lady who turns to be a Vampire. It then leads into a nuts fight between the pair that is so much fun. This kind of ragdoll physics makes the action scenes really pop. I think the movie does a better job than most action movies on Netflix or blockbusters. It's easy not to think about the old saying, "action speaks Louder than words". I believe that Day Shift is able to successfully use dialogue and action to help the plot and character growth. Jamie Foxx's vampire-killing scene ends with him having a funny and dry conversation about how he thought she would turn into a bat or some other creature. These moments are what make "Day Shift" stand out from other similar films.

Day Shift has a lot of fun and is not too serious. I was able to enjoy it the entire way. I didn't have to think to much, it had great action that was original and I felt like I was enjoying watching it. It was funny and made me laugh a lot. Of course, it was inspired by some fantastic vampire films such Blade and Lost Boys. Both of these films happen to be some my favorite movies. The acting was excellent, the directing was fantastic and the cinematography was very good. Day Shift will satisfy those who are looking for something that is entertaining but not too serious. It's a lot fun.

Day Shift was a very mixed movie. On one hand, there is a lot of fun action scenes and some fun characters (the two brothers and Seth), but on the other hand the villain was horrible, a lot of mediocre characters, though I guess that helps the better characters shine even more. There appeared to be scenes missing from the film. Bud's neighbor acts as if they are friends even though she had only 3 minutes of screentime before the final scene. Bud making prank calls (link) at the gas station while he was working at his job is the best part. It was hilarious, and I loved watching it. However, the movie didn't end as well. Day Shift is mixed. There are good parts, and there are bad parts. You could find a better movie if you are looking for some laughs.

Snoop Dogg makes the whole movie worth watching. Snoop Dogg is loved by everyone. He's the definition of cool.
